Goodbye to my mama, my uncles and aunts
One after another they went to lie down
In the green pastures, beside the still waters
And make no sound
Their arms had held me for so many years
Their beautiful voices no longer I'll hear
They're in Jesus' arms and he's talking to them
In the rapturous New Jerusalem
And I know they're at peace in a land of delight
But I miss my mama tonight

No words - only understanding.
So sorry Peg.
This is odd, but I actually thought of her last weekend. I was sewing and recalled the story you told of her getting the needle stuck in her hip.
Your poem is beautiful.
Ah yes, one of many odd trips to the emergency room over the years. The poem isn't mine; it's the first stanza of a song by Garrison Keillor, sung by Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin in the Prairie Home Companion movie. The first verse is so lovely that I wish he'd carried the tune and the sensibility through the rest of the song, which devolves into one of his still-pretty-good lyrical rewrites to the tune of When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.
*big hugs*
Peg, your mom was beautiful. I'm so very sorry. You're in my heart and thoughts.
Peg, I completely understand. Losing a mom is like nothing else you will ever go through. My heartfelt love and sympathy...

I'm so sorry, Peg. Sending heart-healing zen your way. It's hard being a motherless child (I know).
Hugs, hugs, and more hugs coming your way.
